In BaZi, money is denoted by the element 財 (cái — "Wealth") — the element that your 日主 (rì zhǔ — "Master of the Day") controls. The logic is simple and ancient: wealth is what you govern. But here is the catch: to govern money, you must be strong enough. A weak person on whom wealth has fallen will not hold it — just as a fragile vessel cannot hold much water.

So a "wealthy chart" is not simply "a lot of money in the pillars." It is the right ratio between you and money, plus the mechanisms that generate and store that money. Below are the seven key signs. Count the checkmarks.

💰 Before you read. Get out your four pillars — year, month, day, hour. If you don't have them at hand, build your chart for free in the form below. Each sign below can be checked against these eight characters.

1A solid Day Master + strong Wealth

1

🏔️ A solid 日主 (rì zhǔ) holds strong 財 (cái)

The chief sign. A strong Day Master + full-fledged wealth = you are able not only to earn, but also to hold on to capital.

This is the foundation of everything. 財 (cái — Wealth) must be present in the chart, but it is even more important that the 日主 (rì zhǔ — Master of the Day) be strong enough to "carry" that wealth. Picture it: money is the load, and you are the porter. A strong porter takes a heavy bag of gold and walks on. A weak one strains and drops it.

How to tell: the Day Master has roots in the branches, the support of a resource or "companions," while the wealth element is also expressed and not suppressed. What it means: such a person is able to earn and to keep. But if there is much wealth and the Day Master is weak — that is the classic picture of "there was money, but it leaked away." The strength that holds capital matters more than its quantity.

2財庫 — the wealth storehouse

2

🏦 財庫 (cái kù — "wealth storehouse")

An Earthly Branch storehouse (辰戌丑未) with wealth inside. A chart that knows how to save, not only to spend.

The four Earthly Branches — 辰 (chén), 戌 (xū), 丑 (chǒu), 未 (wèi) — are called "storehouses" or "graves" (墓庫, mù kù). They are storehouses of elements. When the element of your wealth is "hidden" inside such a branch, you have a 財庫 (cái kù — "wealth storehouse") — a built-in safe.

How to tell: one of your Earthly Branches is 辰, 戌, 丑, or 未, and the stems hidden within it (藏干, cáng gān) contain the element of your wealth. What it means: people with a cai ku know how to accumulate. They have a tendency to save, invest, and build capital over the long term. A special magic begins when the "storehouse" is opened in the right decade by a clash of branches (沖, chōng) — then what was accumulated is "released" and a large sum can arrive.

3食神生財 — talent generates money

3

🌱 食神生財 (shí shén shēng cái — "the Eating God generates wealth")

Talent and creativity convert directly into money. The chart of people who earn from doing what they love.

食神 (shí shén — "Eating God") is the Ten-God of talent, creativity, craft, and enjoyment. When it stands next to wealth and "feeds" it, you get 食神生財 (shí shén shēng cái) — talent flowing straight into money.

How to tell: the shi shen is present in the chart, and it generates the wealth element (the output element feeds wealth). What it means: this is the chart of those who earn from their gift — experts, masters, creators. Money comes not through exhausting struggle, but through creativity and the enjoyment of the work. One of the "healthiest" and most durable ways to grow wealthy in BaZi — because the source of the money does not run dry as long as the talent is there.

4財官相生 — wealth and power together

4

👔 財官相生 (cái guān xiāng shēng — "wealth and power generate each other")

Money feeds status, status protects money. The chart of those who are influential and well-off at the same time.

財 (cái — Wealth) in the generating cycle feeds 官 (guān — power, status, position). When both are present and work in tandem, this is 財官相生 (cái guān xiāng shēng) — money converts into position, and position protects money.

How to tell: the chart has both wealth and power (正官, zhèng guān — "Direct Power"), and they stand so that wealth generates power. What it means: this is the chart of people who are both well-off and influential — executives, high-ranking officials, entrepreneurs with weight in society. The wealth here is not "bare": status, reputation, and protection follow the money. A very favorable combination for both career and fortune.

"Money in a chart is not the quantity of gold in the pillars. It is the ability to hold it, multiply it, and turn it into something greater."

5Wealth on a "palace" — a favorable pillar

5

🏯 財 on a favorable "palace" (pillar)

Wealth stands in a fortunate position — for example, on the Day pillar or where it is a "useful element." Money comes naturally.

In BaZi, each pillar is the "palace" (宮, gōng) of a particular sphere of life: the Year pillar — ancestors and early childhood; the Month — parents and career; the Day — yourself and your spouse (especially the Day branch, 日支 — the "Spouse Palace"); the Hour — children and old age. When the wealth element is located on a pillar that is favorable for you, money is built into your very life.

How to tell: wealth stands on a pillar that is useful for your chart (for example, in the "Spouse Palace," if wealth is a favorable element). What it means: money comes through the sphere where the wealth stands. Wealth in the Spouse Palace often means financial gain through marriage or partnership; in the Career palace — through the profession. It is a "targeted" hint of where the stream of money flows from.

6偏財 + 食神 — entrepreneurial luck

6

🚀 偏財 (piān cái) + 食神 (shí shén) — a head for business

"Indirect Wealth" plus talent = a nose for opportunity, luck in business and big deals.

Wealth comes in two kinds. 正財 (zhèng cái — "Direct Wealth") is steady income, a salary, what is earned by labor. And 偏財 (piān cái — "Indirect Wealth") is money that is irregular and large: business profit, investments, lucky deals, unexpected gains. When pian cai joins with 食神 (shí shén), talent, a powerful entrepreneurial pairing is born.

How to tell: indirect wealth is expressed in the chart and an Eating God that generates it stands beside it. What it means: this is the classic chart of an entrepreneur and investor — a person with a nose for opportunity, ready to take risks for a large reward. Such people are rarely content with a salary: they are drawn to their own venture, to deals, to scale. Pian cai is generous but capricious — its luck loves active action, not passive waiting.

7大運 — the decade moves in the right direction

7

⏳ 大運 (dà yùn — "Great Luck") leads to wealth

The most important "timing." Even an excellent chart unfolds only in the right ten-year decade.

This is perhaps the chief sign — and it is often overlooked. The natal chart is static, but life passes through the 大運 (dà yùn — "Great Luck") — ten-year periods, each of which adds a new stem and branch to your chart. A wealthy chart unfolds when the da yun brings what the chart lacked for money: it strengthens a weak Day Master, activates wealth, opens the storehouse.

How to tell: the current or a future decade brings elements useful for wealth — it strengthens you or feeds the cai. What it means: this explains why people grow rich at a certain age rather than right away. You can have all six of the previous signs yet "sleep" until your golden decade — and take off when it arrives. And conversely: a modest chart in a very fortunate decade is capable of a financial leap. Timing decides.

Honestly: one sign ≠ millions

And now for what matters more than all seven points together. One sign does not make you a millionaire. A wealthy chart is a combination: a strong Day Master that holds the money, plus a mechanism for generating it (talent or an entrepreneurial pairing), plus a storehouse, plus the right timing of the decade. The more signs that converge together — the higher the ceiling.

⚠️ And more important still. BaZi shows potential, not a guarantee. A chart may speak of great wealth, but money comes through action — through the choice of a vocation, discipline, opportunities realized. The most "golden" chart, lying on the couch, remains merely a beautiful chart. Destiny gives the wind — but you set the sails.

So the right question is not "is my chart wealthy?", but "through what am I destined to earn, and when does my money wave come?" The answer is encoded in your seven signs and your decades. Knowing this, you stop rowing against the current and begin moving to where money comes naturally.

How many of the seven signs did you count? If at least three or four — you have a solid money foundation, and what remains is the execution. If fewer — don't be discouraged: perhaps your strength lies in another sphere, and your money wave is still ahead, in a future decade. Only a reading of all eight characters together with the da yun line gives the exact picture. Start simply by seeing your pillars.
