• Inherited Karma This refers to what you brought into this life from the past: genes, family patterns, spiritual inclinations, and unfinished tasks from previous incarnations.
• Current Life That which unfolds in this incarnation: events, Luck Pillars (Da Yun), decisions, and relationships.

These two layers are interwoven, and an experienced BaZi Master knows how to distinguish between the "voice of ancestors" and the "choice of the soul." Understanding this distinction is key to working with the chart not as a verdict, but as a comprehension of one's tasks.

3 Year pillar = karma of ancestors and lineage

Year Pillar This is the deepest layer of karma. It reveals into which family, which lineage, and which culture you have come. This is... "Starting Conditions" of your life that cannot be changed—they are already given.

• Karmic debts of the lineage. Strong "Seven Killings" (Qi Sha 七殺 — Qi sha) or Shang Guan in the Annual Pillar indicate unresolved ancestral conflicts that you must resolve.

4 Month Pillar = career karma

Month Pillar This is your karma from your BaZi (八字). Paths in this lifeHere your primary life tasks, professional realization, and relationships with parents (specifically with the mother and father depending on the Heavenly Stem/Branch) are revealed.

Unlike the Year (what you inherit) and the Hour (what you pass on), the Month is... Zone of active actionThis is where your real life unfolds, where your battle takes place, and where your growth occurs.

What is read through the Month Pillar:

• The main task of life. The element dominant in the month often determines your primary "mission."
• Career and Profession. Spheres of realization, typical ceiling, and main obstacles.
• Relationships with parents. The Month Stem represents the father (according to some schools), and the Branch represents the mother. Conflicts with these elements indicate tensions in childhood.
• Teachers and Mentors. If the Month contains a strong Resource Star (印星), you have karmic teachers.
• Life crises between ages 16 and 32. Especially if clashes or destructions manifest during this period of the Luck Pillar (Da Yun).

Month — is the Earthly Branch representing the lunar month in the BaZi system, which corresponds to one of the twelve animal signs (e.g., Rat, Ox, Tiger) and carries specific elemental attributes and hidden stems. Seasonal Element (Jì Jie) cards, and it is precisely this that determines the strength or weakness of the Day Master. Therefore, the month pillar is the most "weighty" column in the analysis. It dictates how the entire chart is interpreted.

5 Day Pillar = personal and partner karma

Day Pillar This is you. The Day Stem represents your Day Master, your fundamental nature. The Day Branch represents the "Spouse Palace," your karma in relationships.

In the context of karma, this is read as follows:

• Internal Nature. With which "Self" did you come into this life? This is the most significant among all Four Pillars.
• Karma of Relationships. The Day Branch indicates which partner is "destined" for you and what relationships serve as lessons for you.
• Mature Period (32-48). Major events and midlife crises—when the soul "matures."
• Self-discovery. Day Master (rì zhǔ / rì yuán) is your "mirror" through which you see yourself.

Especially important is the selection of the Useful God (yòng shén — yòng shén). Day Branch (Spouse Palace). Here it reveals the type of partner you will attract, what kind of relationship will develop, and whether there are "karmic" relationships (often these are "past-life exes," marked by a sudden flash of recognition, strong attraction, or equally strong repulsion).

6 The Hour Pillar represents karma related to old age and children.

In the context of karma, this is:

• Karma transmitted onward. The elements of the hour pillar will be reflected in your children's character and the quality of your relationship with them.
• Old Age and Later Years. The quality of the Hour Pillar determines what your life will be like after ages 48 to 60.
• Legacy. What you will pass on to the world: knowledge, assets, reputation, ideas.
• Completion of the cycle. How will you "close" this life, with what balance?

7 Karmic Nodes — Chong, Xin, Hai

In the BaZi chart, there are special types of interactions among the Earthly Branches that the classics refer to as... karmic nodesThese are places where karma works most intensely—where destiny is under the greatest tension.

Chong (冲 — Clash) — collision

The six pairs of branches are in direct opposition: Zi-Wu, Chou-Wei, Yin-Shen, Mao-You, Chen-Xu, Si-Hai. When such branches appear together in a single chart—this is... Clash.

Xing (punishment)

However, while you cannot change your destiny's foundation, you can influence outcomes through conscious choices, timing actions with favorable Luck Pillars (大运) or Annual Pillars (流年), and aligning your behavior with your Useful God (用神). 9 Yin De — Good deeds change destiny

Main Principles of Yin De:

1. Anonymity

True virtue is performed in secret. If you tell others about your good deeds, add hashtags, and wait for gratitude, that has already become... Yang De, an obvious virtue. It grants immediate reward (reputation) but does not alter deep karma.

2. Selflessness

For the sake of goodness itself, not for reward. At the moment of performing an act of Yin De (Yīn dé — Righteous Merit), one must completely let go of the thought "what will I gain from this." Only then is the "heavenly ledger" replenished.

3. Regularity

One great good deed changes karma less than hundreds of small regular ones. Yin De (yīn dé — Merit) is... Lifestyle, not a one-time promotion.

4. Small and Large

The scale of the matter is not important. Feeding a hungry kitten, helping an elderly woman cross the street, or leaving generous tips—all constitute Yin De (yīn dé — Virtuous Merit) when done without calculation.

Practices of Yin De

• Anonymous charity. Help without signing or publishing.
• Protection of the defenseless. Helping animals, children, and the elderly.
• Forgiveness. Liberating those who owe you — whether morally or financially.
• Dissemination of knowledge. Free training and mentorship.
• Saving Lives. In a literal or symbolic sense.
• Harmless speech. Abstain from gossip, condemnation, and slander.

10 Practice of "Destiny Change" through Consciousness

Step 5. Working with the Luck Pillar (Da Yun).

Knowing your current and upcoming Luck Pillar (Da Yun), consciously utilize favorable periods for growth and navigate difficult times with caution. Do not attempt to "storm" life during an unfavorable pillar—conserve your energy and prepare for the next cycle.

Step 6. Long-term Outlook

Changing karma is not a matter of days or months; it takes years and decades. Those who consistently practice Yin De usually begin to see results after 7–10 years. Be patient.
