"«I was born around noon» is a typical phrase from a client during a consultation. And the typical response from a BaZi Master: «Without an exact time, I cannot construct a full chart». This is not a whim nor marketing. It is a mathematical requirement of the system: the eight characters of the map are calculated from four components, and one of these four is the Hour Pillar (xiǎo shí zhù — Hour Pillar).
